Angel

The Beginning
Angel is a one year old owner surrender. This dog has
lived its life since a puppy on the end of a chain tied to
a tree. When this dog was first brought to the attention
of the founder of this group she felt so bad for the then
tiny dog. The owner had bred two of the dogs they had
and had sold all of the dogs except this one that no one
wanted. Even his mama and dad were gone. They
chained him to a tree. The dog was forgotten....no one
had the time for it. The dog  was fed the cheapest of
dog food and table scraps. No one talked to it. No one
came to pet this dog, or play puppy games with it. This
dog was alone but in sight of people which it dearly
loved and longed to be with!

Last winter the founder and a friend got a dog house
and took it to this place where this dog lived and asked
to be able to put it there for this dog. It was very cold.
They also took some straw and some good food. They
were allowed to do this one thing for this little dog. The
owners had to be convinced that this dog needed a
house.

I am deliberately using the words "it" and "this dog" for
a reason. Because to these people that is how they saw
it. When asked its name, the woman there said "No
name, we just never named her. She got into our
chickens so she has to go! Since you want her so bad,
you can have her"

On April 28, 2006 Bobbie went over to this baby and
spoke quietly and gently stretched out her hand. Oh
what a reaction came from this darling little dog! Tail
wagging like mad the little dog jumped up and pressed
it's head into her thigh and just rested there and got the
first kind words and gentle touches probably in its life.
Fighting back the tears she reached down to the dog
and gently lifted it up .... She was surprised to find it
was a boy!

She went straight from there to the vet. She had been
told this dog had never had any shots or even seen a
vet. Now he has.
Our vet could not find a vein to do the HW test so it was
decided that on Monday May 1st that he should come in
and be anesthetized so that the 4 inches deep coat
could be taken off and blood work could be done. It was
at the vet's office that they did uncover his eyes and
Bobbie saw the face of an angel so she called him by
that name.

So this is Angel. We know his breed but could you
guess it from those first photos? We will post the
pictures of him as his story unfolds. He will be on hold
until he is fully vetted and healthy.

This is truly the beginning of Angel's life . Please watch
for updates. If you would like to help sponsor this dog
please click any donation button on our site and put his
name with your donation. No donation is too small.
With the fur grown completely
over the eyes, except for one
small slit over one...this dog
could barely see.
Even with scissors cutting away as
much as possible, we could not reach
the skin.
This matted mess is about 4 inches
thick and solid. There will be sores
beneath.
Angel Smiles!
Angel can see!
Our Angel Reborn
This is our Angel after he was shorn. He just sparkles and shines. He is
playful but still very shy of strangers. He is still stiff when picked up due
to the fact he has never known a kind human touch. He is warming up to
the idea very quickly and will push his way to the front for petting and
for treats. When he gets back some of his fur he will be stunning!
He runs so fast he is
just a blur on the
horizon. "No more
chains for me!" he says
He must feel lighter than air.
He must investigate Everything
around him now.
Whatcha doin' Benji?
Look Mom, I can run and play!
Our Angel is now is a very happy forever home in Tennessee!
