Dogs name....
Corky

Corky is a Yorkshire Terrier who had his jaw broken when he was a puppy and it
was never treated. It was amazing that he did not die from this untreated injury,
but it is a tribute to his determination to live that he did not.
His lower left side of his jaw sets INSIDE his mouth so that there is no room for his
tongue. He must turn his head sideways to be able to pick up food and eat.
He is very timid of people. This very loving and special boy stays out of
everyone's way, both people and other dogs. When a stranger enters the room
he tries to be invisible and will slink along the wall trying to disappear.
We don't know yet just what can be done to help his condition. Most people don't
even like to look at him because of the deformity, but I love him dearly. Small
Breed Rescue of Kentucky will continue to work with him for as long as it takes.
Even a thing as simple as a dental...for this dog is not simple and it is expensive.
He is learning to be a dog. He has learned about soft beds and treats.

CJ is a toy Poodle that came in from a High Kill Shelter. When I took him to
the vet for his shots it was noticed that he had horrible teeth. The vet put him
on some antibiotics and we planned for a dental. However, once we were
home we found that he would not eat or drink water so we started force
feeding him and giving him water with a dropper.
He did not take food and would not let me open his mouth for it. When I did
get the water in his mouth from the dropper it would simply run out the other
side of his mouth. He was extremely thin and was seeming to "melt" almost
hourly. I rushed him back to the vet.
Upon a much closer examination it was found that CJ had broken teeth. The
nerves were exposed and it was causing him excruciation pain to even open
his mouth! The vets decided to give him one more day of meds and do an
emergency dental on him. I took him home. He got the antibiotics and pain
meds and on Monday they took him and did the dental. He had to have 4
broken teeth removed and one filled. He did not improve and would still not
eat or drink.
He went back to the hospital and was placed on two different antibiotics and
stated on IV fluids to hydrate him. He had lost a pound in one week. His
treatment lasted for 4 days and he can not eat but eats only small amounts of
AD dog food. He will drink but he is not yet gaining any weight. He is far from
out of the woods.
His medical bills so far are over $500. Please help if you can to save this tiny
boy.
